Most businesses don’t struggle because they aren’t working hard enough
They struggle because everything depends on them.
We work with businesses who are putting everything into what they’re building but don’t have the time or capacity to keep everything moving at the level it needs to.
Why I started James & Co.
My name is Holly James.
I’ve always known I would start my own business.
It was never really a question of if, more a question of when.
Growing up, I had a front row seat to what it actually looks like to build and run a business through my Dad. The pressure, the decisions, and everything that happens behind the scenes.
From a young age, I was drawn to it.
Finding opportunities, creating small businesses, selling through my Mum’s eBay account. It was never something I was pushed into, it just came naturally.
Over time, that interest became clearer. I kept seeing the same pattern.
Businesses trying to grow while carrying everything themselves - Marketing, sales, operations, all at once.
Things were moving, but not always as well as they could.
Progress was happening, but it was harder than it needed to be.
That is what led me to build James & Co.
Creating capacity so your business can actually grow
Everything slows down when too much sits with one person.
Opportunities don’t get followed up.
Content becomes inconsistent.
Projects take longer than they should.
Not because the business isn’t capable, but because there isn’t enough structure or support behind it.
That’s where we come in.
What We Offer
We step into the areas that slow things down and take ownership of the work that usually sits on one person’s shoulders, across marketing, sales, and operations.
In practice, this looks like:
Social media marketing and content creation to build consistent visibility
Sales support, lead generation, and follow-up systems to drive growth
Project and operational support to keep delivery structured and on track
Inventory recovery, turning unused or slow-moving stock into revenue
Risk and process management to strengthen how your business runs
Branding and business support to ensure everything is positioned properly
We don’t just deliver tasks. We look at how your business runs
Most support focuses on doing more.
We focus on making things work better.
That means understanding how your business operates as a whole, identifying where it is being held back, and putting structure in place so everything moves forward properly.
Founder’s Background
My approach is shaped by working in high-pressure, highly regulated environments where structure, accountability, and delivery are non-negotiable.
Across Public Health Isle of Man, Manx Care, and clinical research, I worked on complex programmes, compliance projects, and system-level improvements where there is very little room for error and everything needs to be delivered properly.
As a Programme Manager within Public Health, I developed the Isle of Man Public Health Strategy 2025 to 2030, helping shape long-term direction and deliver strategic initiatives at scale.
At Manx Care, I led quality improvement and regulatory compliance work, including CQC-related projects, and was awarded the Chief Nurse Medal of Honour.
Earlier in my career, I worked across manufacturing and retail, improving operations, identifying new revenue streams, and supporting business growth from a commercial perspective.
Alongside this, I am PRINCE2 certified, hold a Project Management Microcredential from the Open University, and am trained as an ISO 31000 Lead Risk Implementer.
Before moving into business, I was also involved in high-performance sport, competing in hockey at a high level and taking on leadership roles both in sport and academically - That environment shaped how I approach everything I do now.
I naturally focus on structure, consistency, and long-term progress rather than quick fixes. I am detail-focused, and I tend to notice where things are not quite working, which is usually where the biggest improvements can be made.
That mindset carries through into how I work with clients, making sure things are done properly, not just quickly.
If everything still depends on you, that’s usually where growth begins to stall
Let’s change that.
